“E’er since, by faith, I saw the stream Thy flowing wounds supply,
Redeeming love has been my theme, and shall be till I die.
And shall be till I die, and shall be till I die;
Redeeming love has been my theme, and shall be till I die.”
– William Cowper, “There is a Fountain Filled with Blood” (c. 1772). Text retrieved 05-15-10 from http://www.cyberhymnal.org/htm/t/f/tfountfb.htm.
I first considered blogging about the topic of redemption after collecting many stories on the subject. It is my heart that this becomes cathartic for me, and a blessing for others, as I have a place to collect and share some of these amazing and encouraging stories. I have been more dedicated to the understanding of and explanation of the process of redemption as a part of my doctoral research more specifically, but also as a thankful, ransomed and changed child of God. I long to be able to express these wondrously poignant images regarding the work of God not only in my own life but as I have observed and chronicled in the lives of others. I know what God has done in rescuing me, and it is my hope that I can in some simple way make sense of this for others to consider for their own lives. I also hope to inspire a child-like wonder at the amazing work of the Holy Spirit in bringing redemption to fruition in our lives. And in a journey of discovery I hope to walk together down this narrow road (Matthew 7:14a) leading to redemption by sharing stories and winsome insights learned along this path of redemption.
